Dragonfire shield and the dragon visage
The Draconic visage is a very powerful defensive weapon. Fully charged, it is the most powerful shield in the game, able to spit flaming death in the form of dragonfire at your opponent ….. If this was a common drop, even as far as rare drops are concerned, this would cause the market to collapse. It would lower the value of dragon square’s and third age kite’s. No – this has to be rare even for a rare. I logged on to the Official Runescape forums, and saw a lot of whining and complaining that this is a joke because they can’t get it.. Give it a rest! There’d be something wrong if this shield was a common drop… This shield has only been out a couple of days, so you have no right to expect you should have gotten one yet! Not this soon! The drops are random and rare. This is no holiday drop where everyone gets one. Let’s face it, there are plenty of lower level shields around – too many! …… why should Jagex add another? Personally I agree with how rare this Visage is. To get one is an honor, not a right!

Level 87 Firemaking, real world item trading and more
Yay I got level 87 firemaking today brining my total level to 1915 – here’s a pic: If I can keep up this pace I’ll be level 99 firemaking in no time. Today Jagex have announced that they have banned another huge lot of real world traders today. Here’s an quote from their post: 4 June 2007 – Real world trading is against the rules! We would like to remind everyone again that buying RuneScape gold/items for real world money is against the rules and will result in a permanent ban. Trying to get ahead unfairly by breaking Rule 12 is unacceptable, and doing so also funds many other cheating problems, so we are taking a very strict stance on this now. As we said we would, we’ve been working hard to ban players who play unfairly. Since we last posted about this we’ve banned another 4738 players for buying RuneScape items/gold for real money, which is in breach of rule 12. We don’t like banning players, but when they try to spoil the game for everyone else we have no choice. We believe this is also the most effective way to combat the botting, which is a method used by the sellers. The fact that some people still think they can get away with it and won’t just get banned is quite surprising. We really do mean it when we say that buying gold for real-world money = a permanent ban. We have reliable ways to trace this now. It’s a shame so many people have to find that out the hard way. (These are NOT people lending items to their friends, we really are sure they were genuinely buying gold for real world money.) Finally, here are another 2 examples out of the 4738 players we just banned for real world trading: Player X Player Y What a ridiculous waste! Why these players decided to try to cheat – in a way we can easily detect – and throw their accounts away is hard to comprehend. Don’t make the same mistake. Don’t buy items/gold for real-world money. I completely support Jagex in this move, and was shocked when I read the forums today – for I saw this post: Skillzz18 04-Jun-2007 19:41:24 I wish people like this would take a jump right out of the game. People who buy gold like this person, do nothing but encourage the autoing and gold farming problem in the first place, and as for the fact that he had no idea……. Read these 2 news posts that were posted in the login page of Runescape about real world trading from Jagex earlier in May…… http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=785 http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=798 He has absolutely no excuse, Jagex has had this rule since day 1 and they’ve been posting quite a few messages on the front page about it, especially of late….. All I can say to Skillzz18 is this, “Too bad! It’s just a shame you cant be stopped from making new accounts – full stop. You knowingly supported the problem of autoers, and gold farming sweatshops. Good riddance, and ha, judging by your Skillzz on this account, you’re heading for another ban, this one for autoing! Autoing and gold farming sweatshops are plaguing all multi-player games – not just Runescape. By supporting these practices, you are contributing to the fall of massive multi-player online games everywhere. Personally, as I said in my idea on This Post I’d ban not only the people who run this plague on Runescape but I’d also ban any who support this problem from Runescape on every account they own FOREVER. Using verification, I would stop that person creating anymore accounts fullstop. On a happier note after that rant, my wife Marlaine and I completed the new quest today, and wow it was actually a challenge! I had to retreat since I only took in 5 monkfish, not expecting a mere 138 to be much of a challenge. I was wrong! I had to actually retreat from the fight and equip with a superset and actually ate 9 shark to beat him. What a fun fight for a change!!! I’m glad to see Jagex slowly making a move to higher requirements in quests. Now I just wish they’d do something about those Bird’s Eggs! On my last topic tonight, I just wish to comment on the new graphics. I’m not too impressed by the werewolves – they look sort of like cartoonie moles to me with the over sized claws…. The wolves, especially the white wolves, are absolutely gorgeous! If you haven’t seen them yet, take a trip over white wolf mountain and you’ll see how absolutely gorgeous they are. Also, Canifis looks great now – far more like a village than it did before!

I recently got an old account I had banned for real world trading. I think that it is unfair because they never put up reminders that it was againts runescapes rules. I think they should give accounts back to people that were recently banned before a couple days ago. People work so hard on accounts and ONE little mess-up caused 2 years worth of playing to go down the drain. In my opinion that is really unfair.:( If this has happened to you then you know how it feels.. makes you wanna jump off the empire state building..

Jagex Disregarding Their Players
On Saturday June 2nd 2007, there was a major service outage on Runescape. This was no system update and there was no system update message. It was during prime time and lasted from U.S C.S.T. 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Initially, it was just the login servers on certain worlds, but quickly spread to every single world on Runescape. Then it struck the Runescape forums and high score pages, culminating in a complete Runescape blackout that lasted roughly 30 minutes until the problem was finally fixed. Marlaine tells me that those things used to happen in old rs and lasted for hours! Though I do congratulate Jagex for being able to get everything working well again in a relatively short amount of time, considering the severity of what I suspect was a worm virus, they did do an exemplary job of eliminating it! This was no small problem, so masses of people were wondering what the hell had happened. They asked questions on the forums expecting an official Jagex response saying – just a server problem or a worrisome glitch and that they’re sorry for the inconvenience blah blah, or something like that, which would of been the proper way to handle it….. …instead what happened is completely unforgivable! I am completely ashamed of Jagex crew! There was no official response or explanation about what happened at all – merely a block placed on the forums. I can understand Jagex trying to stop the forums from being completely covered in spam. They should have created at least one topic area where people could discuss it. Moderators were told to lock all discussions about the matter, pretending it never happened. Then they handed out forum bans to people who wouldn’t back off because the players felt – and rightfully so- that they had a right to know what happened! I myself actually made a post requesting an official topic being made: They refuse to let people even discuss what happened?? This could of all been explained by Jagex merely giving an explanation and apologizing for the inconvenience, but instead they DON’T EVEN THINK WE DESERVE AN EXPLANATION or even the right to talk about it! Ok Jagex just posted an apology… Honestly I’m not too happy with the answer considering that things were messed up for 2 hours and the way it spread like a virus. Sounds a bit too glossed over and oddly like it was posted at the time instead of just a few minutes ago. At least they are trying to do the right thing, and I give them kudos for that.

Have you been “Hacked”
I’ve had a lot of people say to me, “Can you give me stuff – I’ve been hacked.” I actually find this the biggest pile of (insert term of your choice here) I know of. Either the person is just lying to get, as the term goes, free stoof, or the person was fooled into entering their Runescape password into a bogus Runescape site/email to become a player moderator, or let a friend know his or her password. This is actually complete bull! I see hundreds of these a week, all designed by some low life scum who can’t earn GP themselves and seek to rip other people out of their hard earned GP. Listen, if you enter your password on any of these sites or emails, you’re asking to have your account and items stolen. So don’t do it! Jagex says plenty about only entering your password on their site, never anywhere else – http://www.runescape.com. Jagex NEVER asks for your pass via email. If you fall for those other sites that ask for your pass and give it to them, then you deserve to lose your stuff – from your own stupidity. One of the most common reasons a person gets hacked is by letting their friends on their account. The so-called-friend steals the items. Same here – you deserve to lose your stuff. I have never given out my password to anyone ever and guess what… out of all my years of playing Runescape, I have never been “hacked”. Seriously, you deserve to lose your account by doing those things. It’s just pure stupidity. How much can I stress – Do not give your password to any so called friend no matter how much you trust them!!!!…. Even if you know them in rl, go to school with them or they are one of your actual siblings – do not give them your password unless you want to lose all your items and get the character banned! Account sharing is against the rules! In terms of key loggers, the solution is simple just run an anti-virus and anti-spyware tool. If you can’t afford one, there are plenty of free alternatives around that are really good – AVG anti-virus and Spybot search and destroy. Marlaine and I both use these programs! Also – a lot of people have easy to guess passwords that their so called friends can easily figure out – like some pet’s name or something else easy to guess. Or they have it written down somewhere where their friends or siblings can find it….. Use numbers in your name, and make sure no one is looking over your shoulder to see what keys you hit when you enter your username and password on Runescape, try to think up unique passwords, and if you feel you must write the pass down, disguise it to look like some other list. Marlaine has disguised pin numbers for her credit card by listing them like a telephone number listing – Uncle Jerry or some such person she doesn’t even know. Now please, don’t use this suggestion or everyone who reads this will start looking through you address book! I’m tired of all these people coming up to me and begging for free stuff saying they’ve been hacked! Seriously, before you blame a hacker, make sure you have not done any of the above. They are not hacking you, you are giving your account to them, saying please take my items! Don’t expect any sympathy from me – you won’t get it! If you have been so-called hacked by one of these methods… do you really want to blab your stupidity to the world?
