Rune Mechanics Quest
Rune Mechanics Quest
Start this Novice quest by speaking to Apprentice Clerval in the basement of the Mage Training Arena. He’s building a Rune Guardian from the runes up and needs some help – a great deal of help, actually.
Requirements to complete Rune Mechanics:
Rune Mysteries
Wolf Whistle
27 Magic
25 Construction
20 Runecrafting
Apprentice Clerval is fixated on the Rune Guardians and wants to make one as his very own from scratch but he doesn’t know how to go about it. He’s afraid to talk to the other Wizards. He decides you should go talk to all of the other Wizards to find out how they made the Guardians come alive.
Speak to:
Wizard Shug (Upstairs) – 2 enchanted emeralds and 20 pure essense. Cut two emeralds and use them on the workbench. Give them to the Apprentice.
Wizard Dougal (Downstairs) – Gives you supplies to craft combination runes… Make the steam runes because he won’t let you get away with using some you might have gotten from the GE or from your bank. Show the runes to Wiz Dougal and then give 5 each of mind, body and steam runes to the Apprentice.
Wizard Edvin (Downstairs) – Wants you to test out his room before he will help you. Once the puzzle is solved, he’ll give you a carving tool. Take it to Apprentice Clerval. Solution to this puzzle is on the bottom……….
Each will tell you what they added to the Rune Guardian. You will need to go get supplies. Take them to Apprentice Clerval to hold until you get everything you need.
Oh oh – Apprentice Clerval doesn’t know how to fix the wiring on the Animation table. You will have to figure it out.
Next, you’ll have to carve the Rune Guardian parts using the carving tool and the lump of essence.
Once the Rune Guardian is up and about, you have completed the quest.
Congratulations!
You get to keep a Rune Guardian for your very own. You will have to keep him charged by going near Summoning Altar. You can also leave him in the bank or let him stay in your house if you have a pet menagerie with an altar. (I don’t know if you can leave it in there without an altar but the Apprentice will give you a new one if you lose yours – I think.)
Wizard Edvin’s puzzle solution is to move west first, then step through the north portal each time all the way to the green square.
