Catching Butterflies And Flying To A Level! Updates for Feb. 1st…
I finally went over to the Trollweiss Hunting area, north of Rellekka, to try catching butterflies barehanded and wowowowow – is that fast Hunting xp! I just wanted a break from Ranging and Slayer for a little while and got over 100k pretty fast without much fuss. Prime and I did a bit of a spur of the moment time trial and doing those Sapphire Glacialis far and away beat the xp in the same time for a whole round of Grenwalls and Pawyas, including banking – heck even not counting the time it takes to get back to the bank and restock before returning the Elf land spot where the two critters chase around.
The Butterflies are as follows:
Ruby Harvest:
Need 80 Hunter & 75 Agility - In the Woodland – Earn 300 Hunter xp and 50 Agility xp
Sapphire Glacialis:
Need 85 Hunter & 80 Agility – In the Snow Area – Earn 400 Hunter xp and 70 Agility xp
Snowy Knight:
Need 90 Hunter & 85 Agility – In the Snow Area – Earn 500 Hunter xp and 100 Agility xp
Black Warlock:
Need 95 Hunter & 90 Agility – In the Jungle Area – Earn 600 Hunter xp and 125 Agility xp
These new activities are great! I could do any of the butterflies if the Agility was the only requirement but I can’t do any higher than the Sapphire Glacialis – yet………. It won’t take very long to get Level 89 Hunter – but I am not sure I will work on another Hunter level before Summoning. I sure have been saving up the charms for a Summoning level but I will have to go get a whole lot of the seconds to go with them!
Something that I had forgotten to include on that list of things to do before the new skill comes out is to charge any glories or necklaces up that need it. Make or buy a nice supply of tele jewelry like Duelin’ Rings. Make tele tabs if you use those a lot. The new skill might come out tomorrow……… I am doing a lot of rushing around in rl and on the game today.

Well – I didn’t get that level yesterday so I’m adding a bit to this post before going on to the new quest. Rune Mechanics Quest is a novice quest and a follow up to Rune Mysteries. It is the update that didn’t get released last week and the updates we got today are the only ones we’ll be getting this week. Whether these updates have anything to do with the Strange Random Event recently is debatable. (Quite frankly – even I would be disappointed if that Event was connected to a novice quest myself. That’s like having fireworks for getting a quarter of the way through a level……)
J-mod messages on the Forums say these updates have nothing to do with the Strange Random Event – sigh of relief.
Other updates this week:
Chance of Double Law, Death and Blood Runes – even though we would never be able to double craft these three runes, we will have a better and better chance of getting doubles the closer we are to Level 99 Runecrafting. Unfortunately, we do not get extra xp when we do get doubles.
Trading With Friends – we can now swap and trade higher amounts with our friends. If someone had been on your friend’s list for a month, the limit will be double. Two months – will triple the limit. Three months – 4 times the regular trade limit. Unfortunately, Prime took me off his list yesterday ……….. sigh………… just kidding – if you have taken someone off your list recently but add them again, it will give you the increased trade limits. (Prime and I like to test things out a lot…. {Partly so I can tell you about stuff like thise} hehehe…….)
Machinima Tool – The Orb of Oculus – Faruq in Al Kharid will give you one to try out and use for making videos. I am not sure I am going to use it to make videos but I will try it out to see if I can get interesting angles for screenies. Who knows – Prime and I might do our show on video…….. we often put on shows for groups in the bank or big gatherings for fun…. shrugs……

Cannons have had their targeting ability improved. I noticed that they were missing monsters standing right in front of them, too – so now it has been fixed.
The Adventurer’s log has been tweaked a bit – hopefully we won’t see everyone on our lists killing Bork today and nothing else……….. Congrats to all my friends who kill Bork every day btw………..Sorry I haven’t seen anyone else’s achievements but congrats any way?
A side note – I decided to finish up that level before doing the Quest Guide for the Rune Mechanics Quest. I had over 387k to go yesterday……… and got it down to under 125k before I quit for the day last night. Now I’ve under 95k and am going to push it right now…………

Since I had some kebbit teeth and Avantoes, I made some Hunter potions that up the level by 3 and could do both the Sapphire Glacialis and the Snowy Knights, conveniently in the same areas. The xp for barehanded catching is dramatically better than using the butterfly net! The Agility xp for each is an incredible extra bonus! Fortunately, I had a magic net and impling jars along and caught an Ninja!
Only negative – Do you see that tiny white line in the middle of the pic? That’s a Snowy Knight and they are hard to see or catch, especially in the snowy area. It’s even worse when you are using a smaller screen!!!!
