The Last Loop Laps To The Summoning Level!

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Now I’ve got a lot of charms and seconds stocked up and about ready to get that Summoning 86. (The goal level for me is 88 for the Unicorn!) This level may or may not give me a combat level. As I said before, the calculators are not always correct and I could still be a prayer level short of 136 combat. We’ll just have to see once the fireworks go off for the Summoning level.

Soooooooooooo….. off to Castle Wars to start that very time effective loop using the Spirit Kyatt and Duelin’ Ring.

First the gold charms – feels better to get faster as you progress up the color levels rather than using up the higher ones first and then the low ones seem reallllllllllly slow. I have more than 316k to that level right now because I did the tortoise shells the other day when I needed bigger space in my beast of burden. I am also making some more Spirit Bird pouches because I use so many of them. Note – all the shards I have at this time are the ones I got when I turned in pouches for 3/4ths the shards used to make them with the ogress (?), Bogrog, just south of Yanille.

Load of Toads

Yeah – below 300k now but I have to finish making dinner and then have dinner……….. delay coming up! (Primefalcon and I usually watch a movie, too.)

Back now….. but it’s late. We had to get that ram card packed up to return to the company because it was defective. Wouldn’t you know…….. Prime has 1 gig ram now but I don’t. We actually decided to get ram cards for both of us after we found the correct type for my computer, which needed the upgrade since it is much older. I reformatted my computer so the new ram could be optimized. But there was a chip out of the part that plugs into my computer and – of course – it doesn’t work and can not be detected. Sighhhhh……

It looks like I’m going to have to do a bit more charm gathering dang it…… I have about 145k left to the level and almost 100 blue charms but even the quickest, least accurate calculation tells me that I am about 45k short even using my penguin/bear points that I’ve been holding back turning in for just this situation – in case I didn’t have quite enough. I’ve used up enough of the charms to know that even if I added those penguin points to Summoning instead of my normal runecrafting, I’d still be short. I’ll need to do a few more Slayer assignments – so I might as well save up the charms to get the level without those penguin points. My next assignment is 74 iron dragons so off I go…. Nice that the Karamja gloves allow you entrance into the metal dragon dungeon unlimited and free since I forget something often enough to make use of it. Since doing so much Slayer lately, I wear them all the time.

Since I have been working on range while gathering charms and doing slayer assignments, I’ve gotten under 250k left to level 95 Range as well!

After doing a few iron dragons, I’m under 200k to that nice range level! It’s so quiet in the metal dragon dungeon, I am going to do a few extra dragons – probably some steels since I’m here and equipped. To be honest, this is the first time I’ve done the irons using range – how wonderful not to worry about prayer or food!

Ok finished those and have Skeletal Wyverns as the next assignment now – sigh….. they aren’t bad if you equip properly – still I am not crazy about them. The bones are almost as good as dragon bones so I will go do those. Dang, I think I’ll do those tomorrow – I’m getting a bit tired of Slayer…….. I will most likely get that Summoning level soon though and then maybe a range level? We’ll see…

Still Working On A Summoning Level!~

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

This Summoning level is taking a while – a lot longer than I had thought it would. Going for level 86 now. I am doing assignments and saving up the charms. (Also getting really bored with fighting all the time!)

Just got back from the desert where I mined quite a bit of granite – size 5kgs – using a tortoise to make it as fast as possible. Now it’s taking a while to chisel it into the 500g size for the granite lobsters. No xp while chiseling them though – unfortunately. There will be plenty of the 500gs for now and later, though, which always helps in the long run. Sooooooooooo tedious! But pushing to finish all of them so I won’t have to do those for a long time. (I still have a lot of raw bird meat for Spirit Birds from a buying frenzy in Oo’glog quite a while ago. I sure don’t need the run energy very much but something to carry 12 items that doesn’t cost much to make is always a helpful thing!) Mining the granite is great xp though. I got over 20k xp for the loads I brought to the bank with my tortoise. Total granite for Summoning – 1308… nope, won’t have to do that for a while.

If all I wanted was to get mining xp, I’d definitely use the slayer ring to tele to the desert, wear the enchanted water tiara, take a pick, plan on dropping all of the granite, and then tele back to Castle Wars bank when I’m done. It would go almost as fast to use the slayer ring and a duelin’ ring with a beast of burden of some kind to save the granite, either to sell or chisel for summoning.

Next, I’ll go get some toads and obsidian charms. Hmmmm….. toads first….. I will use a tortoise this time. When Primefalcon and I did that additional bone list for Fur ‘N Seek, we needed to get a bone from a giant tortoise – which comes from a warped tortoise in the Poison Wastes area, or giant tortoises in Khazard and Gnome Strong. Since Prime was busy when I was ready to get it, I decided to just work on them until Prime could met me in the poison waste lands. I picked up a nice amount of tortoise shells and a couple perfect ones which can be turned in for crafting xp and gp in Dorgesh Kaan.

Ok – gathered twice as many toads as the gold charms I have. I really don’t understand why players want to race another person to those toads, especially when you have a tortoise out and it’s obvious you were there picking toads up. No one can gather quickly that way. I usually just world hop – I have no patience with that.

Next – obsidian charms….. Ok – it’s packed but the one’s I am going after are being ignored….. shrugs oh well – I picked up two obsidian capes and 22 onyx bolt tips from drops. The ONLY difference between a trimmed skill cape and an obsidian cape is 4 bonus in prayer while wearing the trimmed cape!

The only other pouch in the entire pouch list that would be cheaper to make using blue charms, yet more xp, would be the Geyser Titan (lvl 89)….. it uses a water talisman as the second instead of a rune bar to make the Rune Minotaur (lvl 86). So I’m just gathering a whole lot more of the obsidian charms than I need for later levels.

Those tokkuls are near worthless! You need 11k tokkuls for one onyx bolt tip! Now they allow you to sell 50 chaos/death runes at a time for 9/18 tokuls. It’s cheaper to buy a fury than to save up tokkuls for one and make it yourself even when you wear the Karamja gloves that give you a discount. I will be dropping or leaving any tokkuls from now on.

The onyx stone is 300k tokkuls without gloves and 260k with them.
The onyx bolts are the same with or without – 11k. The cape – 90k without/78k with.
To sell cape – 21k tokkuls with/9k without gloves. (!)
The Toktz-ket-xil – Obsidian shield – is 67.5k without and 58.5 with gloves.

When I get all the seconds gathered and enough shards to work on the level, I’ll use the Spirit Kyatt and a duelin’ ring. I have Fire Giants as my Slayer assignment so I might do those before settling into making pouches. I’d rather have more than enough charms than not quite….

A head’s up – if you have characters that you don’t use very often, try to log on to them once a month or so until that new name change option has been added to the game and we are told exactly what will change. I personally think only people who would be banned for offensive names should be given a chance to change their character’s name – not every one! I am not sure if Jagex is saying you will lose any character that’s been idle for a certain period or not but look what they did with classic. I didn’t use any character for more than 6 months there and lost complete access even though Jagex had promised to always keep classic Runescape available to those who used to play it. They gave no notice that inactivity would loose your access forever. That’s not to say I miss it or anything because today’s Runescape makes the original game look ridiculous and childish!

Side note about the computer…. It’s running incredible! The only “problem” is that I have been rediscovering the programs I had while reinstalling them! Zuma is one time waster but fun! DXTris was hard to find any update for or even a download now but I’m glad I still had it in my saves – what a beautiful tetris game that is! There are a couple others that just grab me and I love playing them – shrugs – but I need to focus on getting a Summoning level!
