Thieving – Fast Fingers and Quick XP
Saturday, January 31st, 2009Right after getting that anti-spam plug in on my blog, I went over to the Pyramid to work on Thieving. I did something like three or four rounds in whatever time plus got logged out once so had to start over on that round and got about 5k xp for Thieving. Fine and dandy – I thought – this is gonna take a very longggggggggggggggggggggg time, so enough of this! When I logged on the next evening, I zipped over to Ardougne and was working on the Ardy Knight that I trapped in the store. I had a few monks with me and just a while before I had to head to the kitchen to make dinner. (It turned out so good I did an eHow – Chicken Cacciatore.) Before I knew it, I had 20k xp! And lots of gp too!
I mix those up with the Paladin chests upstairs in the castle because those give 500xp each and a raw shark, an addy ore, plus a sapphire every time you search for traps successfully. If you forget to search, it hits 22 or 24. I also pick the Paladins for a bit before searching the chests because they give chaos runes, gp and xp but I don’t remember the specifics at the moment. They hit too often to make it fun though.
The thing about the Paladins and the Heros – even at level 90, those beasts hit a lot! I picked 27 Ardy Knights in a row last night before it hit me. That isn’t typical – 9 to 13 is more average – but when you can get 10 picks without getting hit, you are going to get more xp faster because you aren’t stopping all the time waiting for the birdies to go away! (Wish we could just fight them like we used to! That is an awfully long pause when you get caught!)
I had 232k to go last night and logged off with 88k left to the level for today. I had work to do first so I haven’t actually been back to the thieving yet – Prime and I also have a bit of running around to do today. It won’t take me very long to get that level – not at all! Usually, when I race through Ardy, I pick the gem stall and, if I see a knight trapped in the shop, I pick the knight for a while. When picking the gem stall, if you pick any guard standing next to you, he’ll go away. If one of them spots you from a bit of a distance, retry picking the stall fast. I’ve gotten into the habit of picking the stall every time I run through, clicking it twice to avoid the delay in getting the gem no matter if it’s going to be naughty or nice. Then – bwak bwak bwakkkk, I run to the bank. Snickering……………. I did get over 60% of the level on an everyday basis while running to do herblore at the allotment north east of Ardy or checking the vine so every little bit helps!
Boombaye – would you leave me a comment please? …. I need to see if I accidentally marked you as a spammer before the anti-spam was set up and see if you can get through. This is just heaven! I’m only checking the spams to be sure nothing is being shuffled to a place they shouldn’t be. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh………. what a joy it is now!
Ok going to log in and see how long it takes to get 88k xp to the level……. I shall actually set a timer on this – Smiling! Here I thought Herblore was going to be my next level! 5:15 to 6:18 No running around and only used 34 monks! (Had a 23 & a 29 run pick this time!) {Got a Genie – put on Runecrafting!} Ok – got it and only 614k to my next level!
You do have to let the knights “loose” every so often or they respawn outside of the shop. I usually try to get two of them into the shop before I hunker down for a good long picking. I load up with monks and law/water runes and pick pick pick pick………… I change to the second when the one I am working on seems to be hitting too often. They get into odd cycles like that.
Added note – I did find some of Boom’s comments in the spam list so if anyone has tried to leave a comment and it hasn’t shown up – write again please! It’s hard to find the good comments in the amount of spam that is in my akismet catch. I looked through a few pages of them today but it’s slow. If I see your comment lately, I can do a search and find all of them. Sorry to all of you – it’s been really hard to keep up with those spammers lately. Boom is one of my favs, so there is really no way I would have marked his as spam – (no matter what sassy remark I give you Boom – smiling!) so there could be others that I did approve but they got shuffled around when those tons of comments shifted on page reloads. Thanks every one for all the great comments!
