Items needed: Tele runes to various places in Runescape, basic runes for the magic lock, Lunar Spells access, home tele tab, games necklace, unpowered orb, charge air orb runes, Shilo gloves, boat to Karamja, a log of any kind, a knife, 6000 coins, decent food, good armour, a lantern lens, 1 snapdragon seed (Thaerisk – a new character in this quest – sells them if you don’t have any for 28875 gp), seed dibber, charcoal, papyrus, bronze med helmet, iron chain body, sapphire lantern, prayer pots, super energy pots,

Start Point: The Legends Guild.

Speak to Radimus Erkle in the Legends to begin this quest. He’ll tell you to go visit an influential druidress named Ivy Sophista in Taverly. She is the head of a group who wants to set up a new place of worship for Guthix in Karamja and they need a guide. He will give you a password phrase so you can talk to her. “Our friend in common places great faith in totems.”

Go talk to Ivy in the house where you use your crystal key. After you tell her the password, she’ll ask you to go upstairs to meet Thaerisk in private and out of spies’ ear shot.

Thaerisk Cemphier says that they have formed a group called Crux Eqal who are followers of Guthix. Lucien has established a network of spys that have been killing off the group’s agents. Two assassins will try to kill you and Thaerisk – kill them and talk to Thaerisk once they are dead.
Be sure to ask Thaerisk all the following while asking all the options:
1) What efforts are you making against Lucien?
2) What are our options?
3) What do you need me to do?
You will need to find out more about Movario’s background and you’ll need to get some kind of proof for Thaerisk. He tells you to talk to Reldo.

Talk to Reldo in the Varrock Library and he’ll help you dig deeper for info. He says Movario has a Khazard accent, studies old texts, takes lots of notes and is a master of making traps. He suggests that maybe jungle creatures, able to track by scent, might help you find Movario in the Khazardian area. You’ll need to find THE Hunting Expert.

You can find the Hunting Expert in a small round hut between Oog’log and Yanille. It’s the character you need to go to when you have 99 Hunting to buy your cape. Take a any log and knife with you. The Hunting Master will tell you to catch a wild broav and will give you a mort myre fungus to use as bait for the trap you need to set.

Go west of the Hunting Master’s hut and set up the pit with any log, using the fungus as bait. It won’t take long to catch a broav. Take it back to the Hunting Master Expert and she’ll train it for you.

Go to the Khazard Area and talk to anyone. They will tell you that Movario takes his laundry to the guy who is north west of the Fight Arena. The launderer will tell you about Movario only after you talk a bit and you use 5000 gp on him. Then he’ll say a shirt of Movario’s is ready for the bin and he’ll give you the shirt. (Don’t they give you your pieces of clothing back even if they are ragged?)

Use the shirt on your broav and it will lead you to the Khazard battlefield and into the encampment. You will have to show the shirt to the broav repeatedly. Climb over the crumbled wall to the north west and go into the central room. Use the shirt on the broav again. The broav will lead you to a trapdoor under the broken table and squeal in all capital letters. Go down the trapdoor.

Under the trapdoor is a base for level 95 Elite Khazard Soldiers and is multi-combat, so equip decent armour and take food – melee prayer works here and run through – so it’s really not bad. Head north and curl to the west. Go down the stairs at the end. Go down the small corridor and you’ll find a door that has a strong magical lock. It will open when you use the right rune on it – fire, earth, air, mind or water – but hit you a 25 if you use the wrong rune. Study the door for hints at which rune is the right one. After using the right rune, remember to disengage the trap and enter the library. It’s single zone so each person probably has a different rune. Disengage the lock or you will be poisoned and have 3 guards hitting you. Check for locks on every door or chest in this underground area before opening. Once you’ve passed the magic door lock, you can no longer telly out without back tracking. (I banked and got extra food and let the door lock hit me until I got the right rune.)

When you enter the library, you’ll see blue electric bolts on the cage gate. You need to follow the sparkling wire to whichever bookcase it leads to. Don’t try to open the cage gate while it is zapping blue. Just follow the wires and search whichever bookcase it leads to until you get a notice that you hear a locking sound from the north. Once the blue bolt stops you can open the gate. Search the stairs and disable it before using it or you will get hit again.

Once in the library, search the desk for the first set of notes. Then pick up the trash basket to search it and you’ll find a ruby key. Use the key on the bookshelf to the west to find a secret staircase. Keep the key. Go upstairs.

Don’t try to take the treasure, it’s fake. Check every door and chest for traps before opening. Once you go through the magic door, you can not tele out.

Search the room. You will find that the bed is a big chest. Search and disarm the trap before using the ruby key to open the chest. Searching inside the chest will give you a second part of the notes and two key pieces. The key pieces do not hold together.

Now you need to find a way out of there and give the notes to Thaerisk. You can’t just tele out. You have to unlock the door on the second floor. So you need to solve weight puzzle. You need to go to a little room on the first floor that is hidden by a poster of a strong man – search it and unlock it. Go inside and read the thermometer – it is different for each person. Then read your weight in kgs. You will need the difference between the weight and the temperature in weights from the little room. You will need to add the difference to the statue upstairs. Get the weights you need and go back to the second floor. Add the weights to the statue and leave but be sure to have both sets of notes with you. Check the temperature one more time if you take too long because it can change.

Return to Thaerisk with the notes. He’ll read them and give you another task – to talk to the guardians of Armadyl north of McGrubbor’s Wood to try to track down Lucien and find out what he’s up to.

When you get to the north side of McGrubbors wood, you will be in a cutscene and see a battle going on. Try to kill the level 48 mage before he teles out – he will get away. Kill the two level 88 axemen assassins. Talk to the injured guardian and he or she will tell you to find Idria, who is safe in the Forester’s Arms – which is actually the pub in Seers Village.

Go to The Forester’s Arm Pub to find Idria on the second floor. She’ll test you before asking you to help her. Depending on the ending you chose while doing the Temple Of Ikov quest, she will either test your loyality or be forever grateful for your past assistance. Once you have her trust, she will suggest that you kidnap one of Lucien’s spies but she doesn’t know how you could do it without anyone knowing. You think Sir Tiffy can help and you will need to go to the Temple Knights.

Talk to Sir Tiffy in Falador. He will tell you to find Akrisae in the White Knights Castle, on the ground floor. After talking to Akrisae, Thaerisk and Idria, you will be given an upgraded Commorb v2 and a Teleorb. You will now need to plant the Teleorb on Lucien’s spy.

Go to Draynor to look for the Shady Stranger and use the teleorb on him – there are quite a few around and in Draynor. (Akrisae will teleport you for free.) Return to Falador and talk to Akrisae or Thaerisk. Idria will teleport Lucien’s spy into the cell. A careless druid will enter the cage with a body guard and when he attempts to give the spy the truth serum, he allows the spy to attack him. The jar of serum will fall and break.

They will need more truth serum to interrogate the spy. An enriched Snapdragon seed is needed and only witch Betty can do it. Thaerisk will sell you a seed for 28,775 gp and one of the druids will teleport you there. (Pretty bad when you have to pay for their mistakes!) You’ll need to take a lantern lens and 20 gp to pay Betty to turn the lens pink, as well.

Betty says you need a rose tinted lens to enrich the seed with sunlight. She will give you the standard serum to work with. Buy some pink dye for 20 coins from Betty. Take a lantern lens and use the die on it to get the rose tinted lens. Give Betty your snapdragon seed and she will place it on the counter. She will also give you another jar of regular truth serum. Stand in the doorway with the tinted lens. Use the lens with the table to focus the light to enrich the snapdragon seed. Pick up the enriched seed.

Go back to White Knight Castle. Thaerisk will tell you to plant the seed on top of the castle. You’ll need a seed dibber but no compost. Go to the west wing of the castle and go all the way up to the top. Plant the seed and go back to talk to Thaerisk.

Idria has a plan to form a task force to capture Lucien. You need to enlist 4 specific people. All you have to do is speak to each of them – they will help you. Lunar magic would speed this part up if you would like to use it. (There will be need for Lunar magic shortly.) Otherwise – Shilo gloves, games necklace, Canifis tele if you have a tele portal in your house (which is so handy!) and Yanille tele, either house if you have it there or Watchtower.
Duradel – Shilo Village on the second floor of the fishing shop.
Mazchna – Canifis is on the north bridge.
Hazelmeere – East of Yanille on the top floor of the tower
Turael – Burthorpe house, east of games room.

After you’ve talked to all four, go back to the White Knight Castle. Your snapdragon seed will be grown. Harvest it and use it with the regular truth serum to make the super truth potion. Take it to the spy. (None of the others offer to go in.) Take the charcoal and papyrus with you. Go in and ask if he’d like some juice. He’ll drink it right down.

After saying – no – he won’t talk, the spy spills all and talks about someone named Dark Squall. You sketch as the spy talks using the charcoal and papyrus. Give this sketch to Idrai and she’ll thank you.

Idria suggests that you recruit more members for the hero’s group. Contact them as you did the other four and ask them to join. The Warrior Guild is located to the west of The Games Room house in Burthorpe so use Games necklace. (Side note – The Slayer Masters do have replacements that seem a bit – ummmmm – wrong for the job! Also – the Masters in the other room are saying some pretty odd stuff!)
Sloane – Strength Skillcape master – Warriors Guild on the 2nd floor.
Ghommal – At the Warriors Guild gates.
Harrallak – Inside in the main entrance to the Warriors Guild
Cyrisus – The only way to contact him is the Lunar NPC contact spell.

Go back to Falidor and talk to Akrisae. Now you need to find Silif, who has gone missing while following The Dark Squall and was last seen in the Black Knights Fortress near the monastery. Wear an iron chainbody and a bronze medium helm to enter, but also decent armour and food so you can kill three 138 level elite black knights while in a multicombat zone with enemies using all three forms of combat. Take an unpowered orb and the runes to charge an air orb with you – cosmic and air. Keep a look out for the Dark Squall as well.

Enter the Fortress, push through the wall, and go down the ladder. It’s a small oval room that has one tile with an orb symbol on it. Cast the charge orb spell on the tile with the unpowered orb in your inventory to unlock the trapdoor. Have only one orb in your inventory or it won’t work. Once it’s open, it stays open.

When you enter the underground base, the first thing you’ll see are elite 79 rangers with prayer on. There are mages, rangers and melee enemies but run past them to the east end. Be prepared to fight an elite 138 knight that will use prayer damage from you. You’ll need to use at least two styles of combat. When he puts his prayer on against your style, he is immune. So switch back and forth. You need to kill the knight three times to get the 3 pieces of elite black armour. Once you equip the armour, you will no longer be noticed by any of the knights and will be allowed to go farther into the base.

Head to the broken west bridge and jump across it by clicking the other side. Follow the tunnels along the east and climb up the wall when you find it, and then keep going down the tunnels. When you get to an intersection with 3 doors and a tunnel that leads to the jail cells, go east to the cells.

Silif is in one of the cells. When you talk to him, he’ll say he’s hungry and you figure out that he needs a restore potion. Head back to the intersection and search the tables in the center room. You’ll find a lobster, a stat restore pot and a tele tab on the desks. Search all the cupboard on each wall, too, and you’ll find a set of elite knight armour and a set of Dagon’Hai mage armour (The knights will ignore you when you wear it and it gives a prayer bonus). Take the key on the wall next to one of the cupboards. (This is a single zone.) Don’t go up the ladder unless you want them to attack you – all attack you. (Extra note: Killing these elite Black Knights helps you earn White Knight Points towards a higher White Knight ranking, allowing you to buy and equip higher White Knight Armour!)

Go back to the Silif’s cell and use the key on the door to enter. Silif wants you to hand feed him and help him with the restore potion but he will recover, expertly putting on the second set of elite Knight armour once you give it to him.

Leave the cell with Silith following you and return to the center room. Walk over to the map and Silith will start studying it. Ask him what you should do now and he suggests you plant the tele orb on Dark Squall. You will see Dark Squall in the room and you can spy on him.

Then plant a teleport orb on Dark Squall and you will see him transform into Surok. Surok will see you and you’ll have to tele out to Falador to escape.

Tele back to the White Knight Castle and talk to Akrisae. You will need to get into the cell dressed in the dagon ‘hai mage robes, so you can be swapped with Surok to get into the main base. Once you enter the cell, Akrisae will switch you two and put you back inside the cave room, after teleblocking it to keep Surok from getting away.

Climb the ladder you couldn’t climb up before. Use the strange tele orb you found in the desk if you have a death rune and a law rune in your inventory – it won’t work unless you are standing in the circle. You will land in an ice realm full of undead trolls and mages.

Go north east and climb the wall. Jump over the wall to the church, then walk over to the balcony. You’ll see a cut scene. Duradel, Turael, Hazelmere, Sloane, Cyrisus, and Ghommal – get killed by Lucien!

Beware – you will be attacked by the elite Black Knights – too fast and hard to use a glory after the cut scene is over. You have to jump across the ledge to the snow encampment to use a home tele tab or teleport to Falador.

Tele back to Falador and talk to Idria. You will be asked to impersonate Surok to find out more about Movario, who was last seen in the Lumbridge swamp. Go to the cave with the Light creatures with a sapphire lantern, wearing your Dagon’Hai robes. Take a light source and a prayer pot. The sapphire lantern is needed to attract the Light Creatures. Go to the Chasm of Tears, near Juna, and talk to Movario and convince him you are Surok on Lucian’s business. Movario will use a blue light spell to help you get down to the bottom of the chasm.

Once you are on the bottom of the crevice, you’ll see several skeletons. Search them until you have a chisel, hammer, spade, sickle and druid pouches. Use the shovel to lift the rocks that can be searched near the skeleton to find a overturned brazier. Use the chisel on this brazier to find a red orb.

Use the shovel on the overturned brazier to the west and then use the chisel on it to find the earth orb. Use the chisel on the two standing braziers to the south for the air and water orbs.

Take all the orbs to the skull cavities in the southern wall, three below and one higher. Place them in the appropriate spots in the matching skulls. Each of the skulls has a small symbol that looks like a white box. Examine each to see which element it is. Climb up two levels to fit the fourth orb in the top skull. You’ll have the 4 elemental keys.

Take off any weapons or shield before you enter one of the bottom nose cavities of the skulls. Go to the end of the passage and insert the correct key into the door lock for the passage you’re in. The Fire Key should the last one left after the three lower level ones are done.

Climb up the walls until you reach the top skull. Use the Fire Key on the Stone Panel, then search the stone cube in front of the Skull and the third skull should open. Climb through to enter the Ancient Guthix Temple.

You will find eight statues in this temple. Each, when examined, will tell what type of potion must be “made” at that statue. Use your Druid Pouches on the Druid Spirit to acquire the potion ingredients. If you run out of Druid Pouches, you can Cast Bloom on the vines to receive Vine flowers. You need three vine flowers to fill your Druid Pouches. Use the herbs and the secondary ingredients on the statues in any order. You will receive a dolmen from each. Also, if you missed the ingredients for a potion somehow, you can get them from the bank or GE.

Use the dolmens on the Stone Table in the middle of the temple. As you add dolmens, it looks more like Stonehenge. Each person has their own potions to make on the altars.

Once all 8 are earned and placed in the ring, it will open the huge door.

If you need to bank and stock up for a fight, now is the time. You will have to battle a Balance Elemental. It is level 454 and uses all three aspects of combat. It hits very hard unless you get out of it’s range and use protect from magic mostly and use range against it. It can lower combat stats so bring Super Restore pots. You won’t get any warning about it’s change of attack styles unless you are far enough away to see it coming.

Once you’re ready, touch the Mysterious Stone. A cutscene will appear. You will find out that it’s the Stone of Jas! Shortly after that, the Balance Elemental will appear. It can be easily defeated if you stay out of its grasp. Wear protect from magic and take range, especially take diamond tipped enchanted addy bolts if you have them. Once it appears, run to the opposite corner so it can’t hit you with melee, keeping the torches between you and it.

It will seem to run out of range and throw mostly spells at you after a short time. Keep your hits and prayer topped up. As it starts losing to you, it begins talking to you. After you defeat the balance elemental, touch the Mysterious stone again. It will boost a players stats so much as to be invincible! (As of Dec. 16, 2008 – The Balance Elemental will vary his attack styles with your prayers so once you are in the melee safe spot, watch for the change in fighting styles.)

Movario and Darve will appear to bully you and call the Stone their find. Talk through all the options in order and they will be crossed off as you use them. Just as Movario thinks he’s about to get away with the stone, Lucien appears. Lucien will be very irritated because they did not inform him of their find. Talk through all the options with him as well.

Lucien will teleport the Stone of Jas to some other location and summon two Tormented Demons before he teleports out. You will have to fight the two demons but they will be easily defeated because touching the stone has made you invincible – you could even kill them with your feet because your combat stats instantly go back up to 255. You will need two styles of combat to end the battles. Kicking works if you haven’t taken a melee weapon.

You have infinite hp for this fight. During the fight you will see Idria and the others appear, and they will beg you to help them defeat the Demons. Once you have defeated them, talk to Idria. She will praise you and teleport you back to Fallador.

Once you’re back at Falador Castle, talk to Idria again. She will reward you with a Ruined dragon armour lump, Ruined dragon armour shard or Ruined dragon armour slice that was dropped by one of the demons. And many thanks!

Congratulations! Quest complete!

After you choose which skills you want the 4 – 100k xp applied to, you will watch a cutscene – the “Elsewhere…” epilogue.

For the moment, there is a glitch that takes your two key halves away if you get killed during this quest. Simply go to Movario’s house, south of Ardougne and look through his bed chest again. Also, if you get killed after you’ve gotten help from Movario to descend into the blue light chasm, and lost your Dagon ‘Hai mage robes, you can still return to finish this quest. If you lose your Dagon ‘Hai or Elite Black Knight armour, you can only get it back by purchasing it from the Grand Exchange – so basically only one per person that does this quest. Feels like an eventual rare item…

Take your key halves to the Mith Dragon area and run to the door on the north end of the area. Use the key on a Mith dragon first to fuse the two halves together. Take anti-fire shield and drink some anti-fire potion, plus wear dragonhide armour – as though prepared to fight the Mithril dragon.

Go inside using the key to see the three dragon heads on hoists. Use a fire wave spell to set them to heating. Now, when we get 99 smithing or 97 smithing and a dwarvin stout, you can put the pieces of ruined dragon armour together.

While Guthix Sleeps Quest is here!

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Just as I suspected, the first Grandmaster quest is now online and ready to start. I had over 700 comments on my blog and was going through some when I thought that I’d better go look! So it’s going to be a busy day for me!

I was going to do an eHow about roasting turkey but everybody does those and I don’t do turkey unless I have to – not one of my favs! Ok don’t shoot me for being un-American! My brother, CycleCyco, always looks at me like I’ve stepped out a spaceship when I remind him of that! (Thank God I am not running for office or I’d be suspected of being a terrorist!) Personally, I am going to be removing all that white meat and saving it for another day! Unfortunately, I made a turkey for Primefalcon’s first Thanksgiving in the US two years ago and he lovesssssssssss it after not liking it for most of his 30 years……… sigh – I shouldn’t cook what I don’t want to eat – eh?

There weren’t any turkeys in the fishing guild that I saw but when I teled to Edgeville, I was really surprised because I forgot about the Thanksgiving event……… Oh yeah – that’s the noob outfit I was wearing yesterday while I fished………..sigh.

To sweeten the deal, we’ve added a new object to the game: the cornucopia. Being a ‘horn of plenty’, the cornucopia is useful for storing food and taking up fewer inventory spaces. You can store up to 14 Hitpoints’ worth of food inside, and one click will replenish your health by the amount you’ve stored. While the turkeys are visiting RuneScape, they’ll be readily available, but after the holiday you’ll have to look a bit harder for them when you kill certain birds.

Horn of plenty? Monks restore 16 hit points and sharks take care of 20. What the heck would I do with those? Oh well – Prime killed only one turkey and got everything – the cornucopia, the emote, the drumstick…………. how exciting was that? You can have only one horn, so it really isn’t much.

Ok – I am going to go start that quest now. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get a guide up today but I will jot some notes down here. I might or might not add notes as I go………..don’t know………..

Wowow – get a gander at the requirements!:
Level 23 Summoning
Level 55 Hunter
Level 60 Thieving
Level 65 Defence
Level 65 Farming
Level 65 Herblore
Level 75 Magic

The following quests complete:
Defender of Varrock
Dream Mentor
Hand in the Sand
King’s Ransom
Legends’ Quest
Mourning’s Ends Part II (The Temple of Light)
Path of Glouphrie
Recipe for Disaster
Summer’s End
Swan Song
Tears of Guthix
Zogre Flesh Eaters

To be eligible for entry to the Warriors’ Guild
Have defeated Bork in the Chaos Tunnels
270 Quest Points – Total available quest points to date – except for this one

Runescape is also starting the narrative of the quest like a novel. Not sure I like that but – shrugs – they believe they have fantastic story lines. Also, you have to have completed all the previous quests to complete this quest – why not just say so at the beginning instead of listing it like Jagex does in the update? I suppose because as they add more quests, you’ll still need only 270 quest points plus the specific quests listed – like the Legend’s quest is.

The skill requirements are not as high as I had expected – especially since this is a GRANDMASTER quest but I suppose it’s high enough to keep a lot of people from finishing this. Well – evidently people are ticked off at how easy this quest is – or so they say on the forums.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH – the dragon plate body is now out and about 27 – 32 mil……………………………………. on the GE. It finally comes out and it’s no big deal. GeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzLouiseeeeeeeeeeeeee! They are saying the dragon plate is not nearly as good as a lot of things that are already out – like bandos and barrows and whatever else. Sigh………. but the dragon full helmet is still really expensive. Shaking head – I don’t understand it. You do need to do While Guthix Sleeps to be allowed to wear the Dragon plate though. Good luck gang – I’m off to become a Grandmaster Quester.

Note: Next day……….. well, I went to bed at 4am last night without completing the guide or the quest. Since I do the guide as I go, it takes me even longer than other people to do the quest. It gets a bit frustrating as well – shrugs. So, rather that rush it and push through an all nighter, that would probably end up with more mistakes that usual………… snicker………. I slept while Guthix continued sleeping………………. So I am back at it now and……………

A Very Happy Thanksgiving To All Everywhere In The World! Smiling!!!!!!!!!
