A Challenge Scroll…. Aberrant Spectre

February 8th, 2010

I’ve been working on Range and Slayer – doing assignments. I had Aberrant Spectres and a strange scroll dropped. Actually, I thought it was just a flier. It was a Challenge Scroll…. This is only the second I’ve ever had! I looked it up since each scroll challenge has a special condition attached to it. This type specifies that you have to have a two handed weapon. I could have borrowed Primefalcon’s Godsword but I have the Anchor. Too bad it makes you look seriously silly running with it. You also need to wear a nose peg or the Slayer Helmet when fighting an Aberrant Spectre of any kind.

The Champions’ Guild is south of Varrock, and you need 33 quest points or more to go in. (Zanik was in there when I went in – wonder why….)

Go down the trap door and talk to Larxus.
Once he sets it up, you go through another trap door in the Champion’s Statue.

I over prepared – the fight was over within 5 hits or so………

Nice reward!

Back to my latest assignment – Black Demons. So boring! The plus is that they are fast and I can range them. I’ve got that range level down under 580k to 98 Range – not bad since it started at about 1.113 mil. I had been thinking that it’s taking forever but I did get a couple levels in other skills since I got that 97!

Sigh – wonder what the update will be this week……….. I still have the Penguin Points from last week. Might as well hang on to those a bit longer. We are going to do Tears Of Guthix tonight. Bonus xp is gooooooood xp!

A Hunting I Am Going – For A Level!

February 5th, 2010

I have a very nice stash of Swamp Lizards building up in the bank now! I did change my mind – AGAIN – and decided to go over to the Frozen Tundra butterflies and Kyatts to work on those to get the rest of Level 90 Hunter ……. I started out just under 150k to the level today. It is much faster and I do have a really nice number of Lizzys in the bank anyway. I didn’t have many Kyatt pouches or Kyatt furs to make any with but now I do – I just need the charms to go with them……. shrugs. If it isn’t one thing, it’s……..

Nevertheless, whatever gets the level done while giving the most side benefits is for me. The butterflies give (Snowy Knights) 500 xp, plus 100 xp Agility! The Swamp Lizzys will help a great deal with the next Summoning level absolutely but I have more in the bank than I had crimson charms in the last run for the level so it’s set for the next level. I will also be going over to Karamja for some Graahk – I am just doing it in the opposite order that I thought I would be doing it. I might go try to get some Warped Tortoise shells, (wish I’d get them as a Slayer assignment), too – it’s so much nicer to have a lot of those in the bank than your last 8 or so. I prefer not to buy everything, especially if there are side benefits to getting things myself.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo – Level 90 Hunter! Done!

I’ve found that if you find a spawn spot, it’s a lot easier to stand there and click your feet to catch those butterflies rather than run all over chasing those bobbing maniacs! I will try to get a good screenie to show what I mean but it is such a dang pleasure to grab for the Snowy Knights without having to be sure the Hunter’s potion has my level up at least one!!!!!! Half the time, I took a sip of the potion even when it was high enough so I wouldn’t have to bother sipping after following one who knows where for how long……… they really move and seem to dart away from the cursor – did Jagex program it that way? Prime says – probably so.

As you can see, it just appeared out from under my feet but even if it didn’t, those butterflies usually come back to their spawn spot again so for a second or so. I try to keep clicking my feet in case it gets back into that zone. It usually works unless it comes from it’s random spot every fifth or sixth time – not sure how often it emerges from a different cocoon spot……….. raised eyebrow. I just know it saves a lot of chasing around! I also see now if you sit and type something like I am doing, when I return to the screen, it might be nearby again……hehehe……..

Now, I am nearing one of my next goals – having all skills over Level 90. Just one level – Summoning……… So, back to Slayer assignments for charms. I really don’t like working on combat just to get charms – might as well work on those wonderful assignments at the same time. My current assignment is Aberrant Spectres………. and lots of them! Of course, I’ll be ranging whenever I can.

I won’t be doing the highest barehanded butterflies for a while but the spot I’ve been using seems like a pretty good spot to bide a while and get some Kyatt furs, butterflies, and kebbit teeth if needed. When I saw those Warlock butterflies during Penguin hunting, I didn’t see anything around that I might do along with catching them but I will check them out more after I am a level or two closer. I hate using pots to get temporary levels.

Hunting For A Summoning Level…… Summoning A Hunting Level………

February 5th, 2010

Since that Hunter Level got so close while I was catching Swamp Lizards, I decided that I would go catch more Lizzys for the Hunter Level instead of butterflies. That way I will be set for the next run at a Summoning Level for the Crimson charms. Each round of Swamp Lizzards gives more than 9k xp for Summoning and is well worth it! With plenty of Granite Lobsters in the bank, I won’t need any more for fishing down in the Living Caverns. I don’t really know what swamp Titans do but they sure do make getting xp faster! I am a little bit over 49k to Summoning 89 now……. YiPPPeeeeeeee!……… and have plenty of those swamp lizards and crimson charms to get the level! Not only can I use my Penguins Points on Prayer or Runecrafting, I didn’t even need to use any of the Blue charms!

Because I only had four runs to finish the Summoning level, I didn’t summon another Kyatt. Traveling via those familiars is really smooth and swift! If only the dang thing didn’t so suddenly screech in my headphones like that! I don’t even use my headphones when I’ve got one out! I want to go trap some Graahks in a bit to do some Nature runecrafting. Probably be a good idea to trap some Kyatts while I’m set up for that, too.

After I get the next Hunter Level, I think I’ll go back to Ranging/Slayer Assignments and try to get a Range Level before the next update!

ohhhhhhhhhhkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Here’s Summoning Level 89!!! (Got some fireworks!)

504k to go to Level 90 but I still have some Crimson charms and lots of swamp lizards already ready for the next level.

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been geared toward clearing my Runescape list of things to do in preparation of the new skill that will be coming out soon. If you haven’t read my eHow articles about Preparing For A New Skill, I listed a few things I’ve been doing there and in previous posts.

It took about 40k worth of Spirit shards to do the last 100k xp making the 105k xp I received from Penguin Points worth about – phew – 1 million gp!!!!! Are you reading this Primefalcon????? (He said I should have put it on Prayer… I can get Dragon bones doing assignments. Of course, he figures buying bones – which I don’t do. To be fair in providing the facts, I would only get about 48k xp with the 200 or so bones I might buy with 1 million gp.) {I already have over 200 ground up drag bones for the next Prayer Level.

Oh – unbelievable! I just went over to my eHow articles to get the link for the paragraph above and saw that I was the eHow Featured Member Of The Day yesterday!!! I didn’t even open eHow at all yesterday because my bro came into town early so we could all go to see Avatar in 3D! Then, when we got back, I made a yummy dinner and we watched a DVD. (We are all movie maniacs here…..) There are thousands of good writers on eHow now – over 7k – and eHow editors are rejecting any articles that wouldn’t be able to be published in good magazines so the level of writing is up a few notches! I am sincerely wowowed right now!

{Anyone who would like to make money writing, sign up with eHow and become a member. It’s slow at first but once you get search engines indexing each article and building traffic, they keep earning money! Oh – there’s no referral program either so it’s not based on getting others to sign up.}

About AVATAR! OMG – it is unbelievable in 3D!!!! Heads up gang – if you see it, save the glasses they give you!!! They will be collectors items someday. Soon, most movies will be in that format and eventually, you won’t need the glasses! They are actually nice to use to block the glare of the computer monitor, too. I don’t know if they hurt your eyes using them while on the comp but……….. shrugs………… No one was throwing them in the recycle box when we were at the theater yesterday – poo. Both Prime and my bro, Cyclecyco, have lazy eye syndrome, strangely enough, (being from opposite sides of the globe and the two most important men in my life at this time….) but both of them got the wowow benefit of the 3D while using the glasses. Lordy – that movie is beautiful! It almost feels like you are moving within the movie. I can see them using this technology in games, too – wowowowow…………. Anybody looking for a storyline content writer for fantasy games? Raised eyebrow!
